You’ve Cat to be Kitten me, She’s One?!

First of all, Halo is turning 1 in a matter of a few days! This post is dedicated to my little Halo Baylo. She loved this nightstand so much that she inspired me into repurposing it so that she could enjoy it as well.

I have been using an IKEA side table for a TV stand in my room, but it didn’t fit in the space and all of my other furniture is white. So it was a sore thumb.

This project, like every other project, started out completely different from my original thought. However, I actually love the end result. It is super functional, affordable, and cute.

This was a night stand that someone left because they were moving to a smaller place. I told them I would take it!

This is the moment that I realized the nightstand was hers, not mine.

First, I took off the hardware on the drawers. They were so outdated. I then remembered I had shells that I found on an island off of Tarpon Springs. I simply hot glued it to the old knob.

I then decided to pain the drawer my blue that I have painted pretty much everything so far in my apartment. I wanted it to be a small pop of color.

I fastened the sea shell knob and kept finding Halo hanging out in the night stand. I thought it was hilarious and kept taking pictures of it. She was being such a cat. Curious and getting into small spaces.

Then, I thought…it’s her birthday! If she loves it so much, I need to make it a reality for my favorite baby girl. So, I went to work and took out the railing thingy and the stoppers so that it would be smooth on the bottom.

I painted the inside white so that it wouldn’t be such a raw looking piece with the particle board. It took two coats to make it look like the rest of the nightstand.

I put on the same contact paper on the top of this night stand as I did on my coffee table. I can’t tell you how obsessed with it. It is so me. The colors, the rustic-ness, the easiness, and just the affordable-ness too.

I placed the leftover fabric from my bookshelf project as a little bit of bedding for Halo.

She absolutely adores it, which makes me love it even more. I have only turned on this tv three times in the past few months, but you never know if I will ever want to actually watch tv in bed in the future. I love, love, love the look of it all anyway! So why not?

I’ve been trying to think of a topic to talk about and I have thrown around a few ideas in my head. However, one kept coming up this week which made me want to touch on it.

It’s kinda random, but as most of you that know me well…I don’t wear makeup very often. You would think I would because I was a model for 5 years and I should have learned how to apply it and what to buy, but I didn’t. I have many reasons I don’t usually wear makeup.

First, I have a problem with breakouts. I am 25 and I still always have a pimple on my face. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have at least one. Although makeup is meant to cover up blemishes, it makes my skin even worse in the long run. I have tried all sorts of makeup and I couldn’t ever find a full-coverage foundation that didn’t completely mess with my face. So, I just know that if I wear less makeup and/or no makeup at all, my skin will ultimately be a lot better.

Secondly, I hate spending money on makeup. It is so expensive! I can count how many pallettes of eyeshadow I have on one hand. I only own one bronzer, one blush, and one powder foundation. The most of one item I have is lipstick, because I love finishing a look with a little color on my lips. I just can’t imagine having a lot more than that, because it is so expensive.

Lastly, this one is the most important one in my book, is that wearing no makeup probably 5 days out of the week makes it seem like a lot bigger difference when I do wear makeup. Instead of shocking people with wearing no makeup one day, I shock people by wearing makeup. I never really thought of it until three people this week commented on how pretty I looked. I also had someone come up to me that I haven’t really had a real conversation with prior to this moment, but he said that I was beautiful and I should wear makeup more often because it made me look stunning. However, I have realized if I wear it more often I get less people commenting. I would rather shock people by being prettier than shock people with being less pretty.

Those are just my thoughts and my own little rant. Makeup is overrated. It’s expensive, it’s bad for your skin, and if you wear it all the time–people will expect it.

Happy Mardi Gras! I hope everyone had a good one. This post was written really quickly before I went to a parade. So, I apologize in advance if it isn’t my most eloquent one yet!
